During the last weeks of development on 4lex Kidd in Nightmare World, I had to delete a few screens in some levels. Not because I didn't like them, but because they felt too different from the rest of the game. They had a kind of "puzzle game" aspect to them, and I would have had to create some kind of tutorial to help the player cross them, which I couldn't afford by lack of available text boxes.
So I discarded them, but I felt like they were kind of interesting, so I did not put them to the trash, but rather kept them in a corner of my mind.
And that is how a few months later, Snappy Snörg was born. Well, not exactly, because the first file I have for this game was called "Grumpy Granny and the Gemini Gemstones". I knew I wanted a slow-paced game, thus the granny for main character, that was also a puzzle game, thus the gemstones (Columns, Tetris, ...).
The demo was ready for the 2023 SMSPower Competition, so I submitted it, and it won the first place. And I'm really glad it did, because it was the first time I created my own characters and worlds. To this day, among my many projects, it is the closest to be ready for release. All the assets are ready, I am only waiting for a few patches to continue working on it.
